Global Network
Equipping schools in America to care for international students and prepare them for success
Mission
Equip Schools
Share best practices and create learning environments for schools looking to grow in their ability to welcome international learners on campus.
strategic Networking
Provide opportunities to network with other private faith-based ISPs across the country to encourage and connect with others in a similar field.
The Wheaton Academy Global Network is committed to equipping schools to provide a caring, excellent and holistic experience to international students.
History
Wheaton Academy has been a boarding school for much of its 170 year history. In 2007, Wheaton Academy began a homestay boarding program to invite international students to become part of the school’s community. Since 2007, these students have had a profound impact on school culture and student learning.
By 2011, Wheaton Academy had met its targeted enrollment of international boarding students and realized there were more than 100 inquiries and applications received for a limited amount of openings. Rather than turn away these students, Wheaton Academy Global was formed to provide a pathway for students to find other high quality American schools like Wheaton Academy and to support these schools in their care and education of international learners.
Today, Wheaton Academy Global and the Global Network exists to provide increased understanding of key international student programs and to leverage best practices to impact these student and their families lives for generations to come.
Membership
The Global Network offers three types of opportunities for its members. Our annual in-person International Student Program Intensives (ISPI) is an exciting opportunity to meet and build relationships with key personnel (i.e., college counselors, teachers, support staff, and administrators) from around 40 top Christian schools in America. We invite you to become an active participant at ISPI as we gather to learn and share best practices, grow from inspirational speakers, network with colleagues, and become better equipped to serve international students in their schools.
The second type of opportunity we offer are Virtual Roundtables throughout the school year to address pertinent topics related to international programs and to meet in breakout groups to share ideas, network and offer encouragement.
The third opportunity we offer is access to our Shared Resource Library as well as a collaborative email group.
Cost: $550 per school annually
