History

Wheaton Academy has been a boarding school for much of its 165 year history.  In 2007, Wheaton Academy began a homestay boarding program to invite international students to become part of the school community. Since 2007, these students have had a profound impact on school culture and student learning.

By 2011, Wheaton Academy had met its targeted enrollment of international boarding students and realized there were more than 100 inquiries and applications received for a limited amount of openings.  Rather than turn away these students, WA Global Network (formerly WAnet) was formed to provide a pathway for students to find other high quality American schools like Wheaton Academy and to support these schools in their care and education of international learners.

Today WA Global Network exists to provide increased understanding of the key homestay program and international student education philosophies and leverage our institutional learning and student stories through the trust of partner schools, parents, and alumni.

Membership

WA Global Network offers three types of opportunities for its members. Our annual in-person International Student Program Conference (ISPC) is an exciting opportunity to meet and build relationships with key personnel (college counselors, teachers, support staff, host families and administrators) from over 40 top Christian schools in America. We invite you to become an active participant in ISPC as we gather to learn and share best practices, grow from inspirational speakers, network with colleagues, and become better equipped to serve international students in their schools.

The second type of opportunity we offer are Virtual Roundtables throughout the school year to address pertinent topics related to international programs and to meet in breakout groups to share ideas, network and offer encouragement. The third opportunity we offer is access to our Shared Resource Library as well as a collaborative email group.

Cost: $360  1st individual from school (+$210 for each additional school personnel)
